I had my garage sale on Saturda,y 30 Oct. I stated clearly the start time - 7am and no early birds. As I had to have my sale on the front lawn of my mother's house, I had planned the start time exactly so as to give me enough time to move everything and set it in place by 7am.
But of course, there had to be some people who didn't respect my start time. How annoying.
People who turn up 1 hour or 1 1/2 early are just rude and inconsiderate! I don't need or want people stickybeaking around when I'm trying to get things organised, moving backwards and forwards. I don't have time to keep an eye on them. It just puts me in a foul mood, (more so at that time of the morning without sleep) but especially when they've got the gall to lie about knowing the start time (but they know the address somehow...). I don't apologise to those same ignorant people, who totally disregard the start time, for sending them on their way. I let them know, by facial expression or tone of voice, I'm not impressed, and I don't care whether they come back or not. Disrespect says a lot about a person and I can do without their business. It's their loss, not mine.
On the whole, though, I was happy with the end result. My young daughter and I had a great day, relaxing after the hard work was done. I got to study in-between customers, prices were low, I was complimented numerous times on my organised layout, I was friendly and interacted with those I met, and I sold the items that were most important. And the leftovers items go to charity.
What more could I ask for? Oh, that's right - NO EARY BIRDS! PLEASE!
Be organised. It reduces the stress. That way you can enjoy yourself and relax.
